Instructor Statement: As a writer and a writing instructor, I am always searching for ways to enhance creativity. Over the years, it has become increasingly clear to me that there are more ways to do this than just the traditional ones. Using exercises based on meditation practices and psychology have enriched my storytelling abilities and those of the students I have taught. The overused phrase “think outside the box” is often a hindrance, leading us further into our mental quagmire or blockage. After years of experimenting with tapping into the subconscious via my meditations and psychology studies to help myself process life, one day clarity fell into my lap, and I decided to see if I could use the same means to assist my creative flow. It worked. I am excited to share my techniques to help other writers and creators access their creativity in unconventional ways.
