Jessica Fuh

Jessica Fuh

Jessica Fuh is a queer Asian American writer/director born in Los Angeles and raised in Singapore. She is known for her nuanced and naturalistic films that explore human relationships and queer, female, POC or intersectional identity. Jessica frequently mentors young minority filmmakers at the community college and university levels, as well as high school youth in public schools around Los Angeles. She currently teaches Film Production at UCLA and LMU's School of Film and Television.

Jessica previously received the Jack Nicholson Distinguished Student Director Award for her work, as well as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Directing Fellowship, and the Motion Pictures Association of America Award, amongst others. While honing her craft at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, Jessica won a Director’s Spotlight Prize — given out annually to the very best MFA Directors in the school — twice, once for her lesbian short Us, and again for her Gaysian American film, Lose-Lose. Jessica's films have played at the Directors Guild of America and at prestigious LGBTQ film festivals internationally, including Toronto Inside Out and Reel Affirmations in Washington, DC. Prior to her MFA in Writing/Directing from UCLA, Jessica received her BA in Film Studies and Economics from UC Berkeley.
