Kumari Bakhru

Kumari Bakhru, an Associate Producer and Post-production Entertainment Executive who earned her undergraduate degree in Rhetoric from U.C. Berkeley and an M.A. from The University of California, Los Angeles in Critical Studies for Film and Television. Ms. Bakhru has worked in postproduction and distribution for The Public Broadcasting Service (KPBS), The WB Television Network, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, THX, a division of Lucasfilm Ltd. and Dolby Laboratories. For Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, she worked in National Print Control, International and Domestic Distribution and spent two years in Singapore developing regional digital cinema operations. Kumari has been instrumental in bringing the following projects to fruition: The Moana Sing-A-Long, The Frozen Sing-A-Long, Nightmare Before Christmas Second Screen Live, Little Mermaid Second Screen Live, Dedicated Disney Screen, and Disney Lobby Domination. She has also worked on several Augmented Reality, Projection Mapping, Interactive Auditorium, and Giant Multi-Screen Playback projects, including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Ford vs. Ferrari, Black Panther and Black Widow in the ScreenX format. The Usual, a short film Kumari co-produced, was in competition and sponsored by The American Pavilion at the 2014 International Cannes Film Festival. Kumari has been a presenter at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Cinema Technology and Future of Cinema panels, and Chairman of Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) Management Representatives Committee. She has been a panelist for the META Cinema Forum (Dubai), The Producer’s Guild of America Women’s Impact Network and a guest speaker for San Diego Comic-Con International Film Festival’s Women in Postproduction. She is currently a guest lecturer at The American Film Institute and New York Film Academy, and is working on Managing VFX & Virtual Production: The Process (working title), coming soon from Focal Press.
