Margarita Landeros

EdD., Dr. Margarita Landeros (Maggie) is a proud Compton-native and the oldest of four, born to Mexican parents. It was her upbringing in her Compton community and being the first-generation to pursue higher education that fueled her work as an educator and volunteer leader. She currently serves as a Counselor Support Specialist for Green Dot Public Schools California (GDPSC) where she uses her experience as a former high school counselor and school leader to support and coach school counselors across GDPSC, including leading professional development, refining and initiating school counseling policies and systems, and overall consulting with counselors to maximize their student impact. Prior to GDPSC, she served as a counselor at a Los Angeles-based high school where she built a robust college counseling program for students and families. She is actively involved in different community programs including being the Co-Chair for the Los Angeles Chapter of the UC Berkeley Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association (CLAA),  the Co-Chair for the Greater Los Angeles NACAC College Fair, and Vice President of the Gates Millennium Scholars Alumni Association-Los Angeles Chapter. She is also currently part of the HOPE Leadership Institute 2021 Cohort. She is passionate and committed to working with students from underrepresented populations to earn a college degree.
