Renae Jackson

I received my B.S. and M.S. degrees in Kinesiology - Exercise Science at CSU Long Beach, where I also taught biomechanics. I have worked with athletes at a variety of levels, from high school and collegiate to elite in both sport science and coaching aspects. As a Sport Performance Intern for EXOS I coached a variety of professional and sponsored athletes, such as NFL, Soccer, Baseball, Tennis, and Hockey, in proper exercise technique to enhance their performance and prolong their career by minimizing injury. However, the area I am most passionate about is ocean lifeguarding and my goal within kinesiology is to apply my background to the ocean lifeguard population. My thesis was on musculoskeletal injuries in California Ocean Lifeguards, and I plan on continuing that line of research in hopes of creating and implementing an injury prevention program. My goal as a teacher is to create an environment of real-world application in the classroom. I expect myself to come to class prepared and to create an energetic and open-minded classroom environment. I expect my students to come to class ready to learn and to apply the material in the areas that interest them.
