I received my B.S. in biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences, and my M.S. in Global Medicine from the Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California. I currently am continuing my research and education in addiction medicine as a doctoral student in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California.

I currently teach an online course entitled COM HLT X 471: Addiction Science: Neurobiology, Prevention and Treatment at the University of California, Los Angeles Extension and serve as a guest lecturer in their Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling Certificate Program. Additionally, I lecture at the Mt. San Antonio College Workforce Center.

I believe as an instructor, it is my responsibility to present the most up-to-date research and evidence-base for prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. The term addiction has become a common buzzword in society and is often misconstrued in the media. My focus it to teach students the skills to critically analyze research and its application in the field. Then with these skills, be able to respond to questions about the information presented in the media. In addition, I will teach students how to identify risk factors for addiction and how to explain the continuum of addiction in substance use disorders, because no one theory truly describes the cycle of addiction.
