Tiffanie Hsu

Tiffanie Hsu is a writer and director selected as an HBO Visionary for her short film WONDERLAND, a coming-of-age story about a young girl struggling to reconcile family and fantasy in America’s adult playground: Las Vegas. The script was selected for The Black List’s 2020 CAPE LIST and she is developing the feature adaptation through the Sundance and Film Independent Filmmaker Labs.

Hsu’s feature documentary, WATERSCHOOL, tells six young women’s stories of empowerment around water and sustainability living along the major rivers of the world. The film premiered at Sundance 2018 and is available on Netflix. She is currently developing JACKPOT, a limited series based on This American Life’s feature of the San Francisco Spiderman Burglar with ABC Signature and showrunner Leonard Chang (SNOWFALL, JUSTIFIED). She is also developing Dr. Seuss’s COME OVER TO MY HOUSE as a puppet-led docuseries with The Jim Henson Company.

She has a BA from Harvard University and an MFA in Screenwriting and Directing from UCLA. She also won the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. She grew up in Wisconsin, Taiwan, and Southern California and began her career directing stop-motion animation, music videos, and location-specific Shakespeare adaptations.
