Tunette Powell

Dr. Tunette Powell is an activist mama, educator and researcher who has published several books and papers on issues of kinship, race, racism and institution-induced collective trauma. Dr. Powell earned her PhD in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she studied the collective and familial impact on Black families as a result of punitive school discipline policies. Dr. Powell is also a racial equity consultant, currently serving as the Director of Equity, Inclusion and Community at Mirman School.
