Victoria Wisdom

Instructor Biography: Producer/manager and former literary agent at ICM, she represented the Academy Award-winning careers of Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects), Ernest Thompson (On Golden Pond), and directors Bryan Singer (X-Men), and Lone Scherfig (An Education). Ms. Wisdom also was a partner at Becsey Wisdom Kalajian Agency (BWK) and sold the hit CBS drama series Criminal Minds.

Instructor Statement: Having a grand passion for movies is only the beginning of a screenwriter's journey. The basic tools for a successful career need to include the practical knowledge of how art and commerce combine to create a costly and challenging art form. Although it's crucial to learn how to write a film well, it's equally urgent to understand that a career combines craft, imagination, and business know-how. I have traveled to film sets and film festivals all over the world, but I have never lost the simple joy of waiting in the movie theater for the lights to go out, and the story to begin. Making a really good film doesn't happen by accident. Real pros may start with a fantasy, but they understand that the reality is getting the movie made. I'd like to share my experiences and help writers turn dreams into productions and fantasies into careers.
