We are looking for an experienced, tech-forward paralegal who wants to be a true partner in the litigation process—not just support staff.

ABOUT THE FIRM:
Louis J. Cohen, APC is a boutique plaintiff’s firm in Agoura Hills with a record of high-stakes, high-impact results. We represent whistleblowers exposing fraud against the federal and state governments under the False Claims Act, and employees who have faced discrimination, retaliation, defamation and/or sexual harassment.
Our cases are meaningful, our team is tight-knit, and the work is never routine.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft and respond to written discovery: interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and supplemental responses
  • Prepare and assist in opposing motions, including separate statements, points and authorities, and supporting declarations
  • Manage case calendaring, court deadlines, and scheduling under California and federal rules
  • Coordinate and prepare for depositions: organize exhibits and draft deposition outlines
  • Conduct research using Lexis and AI-assisted tools; synthesize findings into usable summaries and case memos
  • Handle e-filing in Los Angeles Superior Court and federal district courts
  • Organize and manage document review databases
  • Prepare and format professional correspondence, demand letters, and court submissions
  • Assist with client communication, case intake, and coordination with co-counsel and opposing counsel
  • Maintain Excel-based time and billing records

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • 2+ years of litigation paralegal or legal assistant experience in California civil or employment litigation
  • Demonstrated ability to draft discovery and motions with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); typing speed of at least 60 WPM
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; meticulous attention to detail
  • Familiarity with California civil procedure, court rules, and e-filing systems

Preferred

  • Experience with AI-assisted legal research and drafting tools (e.g., Claude or similar)
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms such as DISCO, Relativity, or similar
  • Experience with Clio, legal billing software, or practice management systems
  • Background in employment law, False Claims Act, or plaintiff-side litigation
  • Paralegal certificate or relevant degree

HOW TO APPLY:
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter describing your relevant experience—particularly any discovery drafting, motion practice, or AI tool experience—to the firm. We review all applications and will reach out to qualified candidates promptly.
