Drawing Practices
Osher (50+). In this course, we learn drawing techniques.
About this course:
In this course, we explore how drawing, a practice of mark-making, can summon, cajole and conjure meaning from a blank page. Starting with pencil and paper, we make marks on the page; these leave evidence of movement, shape, space and form. The form reveals light, which simultaneously produces shadow and shade. A variety of tools and techniques are offered to bring this process to life. Since each of us sees differently, the goal is to create a toolbox of options, where everyone has a chance to see what they see, and practice ways of putting that on a blank page. Firsthand support from the instructor encourages exploration. Instructional handouts and motivating videos supplement the experience. This course is intended as both an introduction as well as a refresher, and everyone (with or without proficiency) is welcome. Our classroom is a place to ponder, look at ways to draw, learn and practice together. Drawing materials: charcoal pencils, .01 micron pen, ink, and brush.Ready to start
