About This Course
Popular culture in 1940s America is vividly illustrated through rare soundie music films, radio broadcasts, V-Discs and ephemeral wartime media. In this course, we explore lively music, song, and dance from such stars of these ephemeral media as Dorothy Dandridge, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, Louis Jordan, Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers, and Count Basie. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to videos for the duration of the course.
