About This Course

Aging brings opportunities as well as complex legal, financial, health, housing, and family decisions that benefit from thoughtful preparation. In this course, we examine the essential building blocks of strategic planning, including estate and advance-care planning, financial resources, long-term care options, housing choices, and strategies for maintaining health, independence, and meaningful engagement. Participants learn how to anticipate changing needs, identify appropriate professional resources, and evaluate options based on individual goals, family circumstances, and financial means. Through presentations by experienced professionals, practical examples, and guided discussion, we explore how early planning can preserve autonomy, reduce crises, and ease the responsibilities placed on family members. The course is designed for older adults planning for themselves as well as family members and professionals seeking a clearer understanding of the aging process. This course uses the Hybrid format which allows students to participate remotely and/or in the classroom. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to videos for the duration of the course.
