About This Course
Art and science are not separate disciplines, but two sides of the same fundamental human impulse to observe, understand, and create. In this course, we explore the indivisible connections between the aesthetic and the methodical, examining the convergence where imagination fuels inquiry. We examine inventive individuals across diverse fields, such as Leonardo da Vinci, who recognized that both art and science are essential tools for discovery. We also explore specific historical intersections, including Salvador Dalí’s "melting clocks" and their link to Einstein’s theories of time, as well as the visionary works of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, and Isaac Asimov, which often anticipated real-world breakthroughs like the moon landing and satellite orbits. Through these case studies, we discover how creative vision continues to inform scientific progress. Join us as we celebrate mankind’s endless inquiry to reveal hidden truths of the universe. Special Guest Lecturer: Beverly Olevin.
