Navigate your student status.

UCLA Extension’s International Student Office (ISO) will help you keep track of your student status while studying at UCLA Extension.

Our services include counseling on:

  • Document preparation for F-1 student visas
  • Visa status changes
  • I-20 transfers from one school to another
  • Temporary travel outside the U.S.
  • F1 visa rules and regulations

The ISO reviews your enrollment every quarter and updates your status in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). We will contact you if any changes need to be made in your quarterly enrollment for you to remain in valid F-1 status.

Your ISO advisor must be notified in advance and approve any of the following actions:

Maintaining Your F-1 Visa

If you are studying in the United States on an F-1 student visa, you must follow specific rules and regulations to maintain your student status. Please review these guidelines carefully and contact your ISO advisor with any questions.

Please note: The responsibility for remaining in status at all times is yours alone. It is not the school’s responsibility, and it is not the responsibility of your International Student Advisor to keep you in status.
