Patricia Schultz
Patty C. Schultz, M.A. in Writing, M.S. in Linguistics; is a writer, instructor, and professor of English and Humanities. She has produced films, courses, and programs across many communication platforms (film, video, lecture, and classroom), and worked with ABC, PBS, TELEMUNDO, and international organizations (WHO, PAHO, and ICRC). In the 1990s, her activism in child protection led her to create and shepherd a mentoring program for at-risk children and teens in the Washington DC Metropolitan community. Since then, she has turned her volunteerism to zoology, assisting in carnivore protection in far flung areas (India, Kenya, and Patagonia). In the United States, she was privileged to lead docent discussions of anthropology and paleontology for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. More recently, she has presented at science fiction conferences on dystopian literature and film. In the last five years, she was honored with three consecutive Archivist Achievement Awards from the National Archives as an instructional trainer. An OLLI instructor for more than a decade, she enthusiastically promotes classroom engagement and discussion in her teaching craft. She brings to her new home in California a love of theater, film craft, organic farming, dance, environmental activism, and poetry slams.
