Thomas Trudgeon

MFA in acting and performance pedagogy from CSULB; faculty lecturer with CSULB, where he has taught introduction to acting, preparing for the profession, and advanced acting classes. While studying at CSULB, he won First Place for Excellent Presentation of an Original Scholarly Work in Creative Art and Design at the Statewide CSU Research Competition for “The Art of We,” a project that speaks to his efforts to create community within every classroom setting. Tom also enjoys intermittently working with the Los Angeles Unified School District, as well as teaching theatre arts to third graders through International City Theatre’s PACT program. Tom teaches an array of methodologies actors employ to prepare for theatrical performance; primarily Stanislavski based systems and pedagogy derived from Michael Chekhov, The Viewpoints and Declan Donnellan. Fitzmaurice Voicework process-oriented principles also fuel his teaching philosophy. Presently, Tom is training toward certification with Catherine Fitzmaurice Voicework and Knight-Thompson Speechwork programs. Favorite acting credits include The Legend of Georgia McBride directed by Jamie Torcellini (International City Theatre), Arcane – Enter the Undercity directed by Thomas Maller (Secret Cinema/Netflix), Apollo 11 - The Live Show directed by Scott Faris (Troika), Antigone X directed by Jeff Janisheski (California Repertory), Machinal directed by Julianne Just (California Repertory), Good Boys and True directed by Hugh O’Gorman (California Repertory), and Bent during the Philly FringeArts Festival. Tom directed The Normal Heart at Land of Tomorrow in Louisville, KY with Actor Saturday. Tom is currently an Equity Membership Candidate.
