Design Intern - Barta Interiors Inc.

Barta Interiors is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Interior Design Intern to join our Los Angeles design studio. This is a hands-on opportunity for a design student or recent graduate interested in gaining real-world experience within a residential interior design and interior architecture firm.

The ideal candidate has a strong design sensibility, is organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced creative environment. Our intern will work closely with our design team and gain exposure to multiple phases of the design process: from initial concepts and material sourcing through documentation, procurement, and installation.

Responsibilities:

• Assist designers with sourcing furniture, lighting, plumbing, hardware, tile, stone, fabrics, wallcoverings, and other materials
• Visit local showrooms and vendors to source materials and obtain samples
• Organize and maintain the studio's sample and materials library
• Assist with preparation of client presentations, material palettes, and design boards
• Assist with furniture, lighting, and finish selections
• Research products, vendors, pricing, lead times, and availability
• Request samples, quotes, tear sheets, and product information from vendors
• Assist with AutoCAD drawings, floor plans, elevations, and other design documentation depending on experience level
• Assist with SketchUp models and renderings depending on experience
• Help maintain project files, specifications, and product information
• Assist with site visits, field measurements, and project documentation
• Help prepare for client meetings, installations, photo shoots, and project presentations
• Pick up and return samples from local showrooms as needed
• Assist the design team with day-to-day project and studio needs

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred
• SketchUp experience preferred
• Enscape experience preferred
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related program
• Strong interest in high-end residential interior design
• Good eye for color, proportion, materials, and design
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Comfortable communicating professionally with showrooms, vendors, and members of the design team
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and follow through on tasks
• Adobe Creative Suite knowledge, particularly Photoshop and InDesign, is a plus
• Rendering experience with Enscape or similar software is a plus
• Reliable transportation and ability to visit showrooms and project sites throughout the Los Angeles area
