The College Admissions Counselor delivers tailored, strategic guidance to high school students navigating the college admissions process. This role focuses on developing customized application strategies, building balanced college lists, and helping students craft compelling personal narratives through expert essay guidance.

 

 

Strategic Admissions Planning: Develop personalized roadmaps based on student profiles, guiding them on extracurricular positioning, application timelines, and strategic college selection (including Ivy League, UC, and selective private institutions).

 

Essay Advising & Narrative Editing: Provide detailed feedback, strategic direction, and multi-draft editing on Common App, UC, and supplemental essays while preserving the student’s authentic voice.

 

Timeline & Progress Management: Track individual student deadlines, application milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely and polished submissions.

 

Family & Team Communication: Conduct regular progress updates and consultation sessions with students and parents, collaborating with internal academic teams to maintain high-touch support.

 

 

3+ years of direct experience in college counseling or selective admissions, with deep knowledge of Common App, UC systems, and top-tier university expectations.

 

Strong Writing & Narrative Editing: Proven ability to help students brainstorm, shape, and refine impactful personal statements and supplemental essays.

 

High-Touch Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; warm, patient, and adaptable when guiding both teenagers and parents.

 

Organization & Detail Orientation: Exceptional project management skills with a strong track record of managing multiple student timelines simultaneously.

 

 

UCLA Extension College Counseling Certificate (or IECA/HECA membership).

 

Background as a former high school counselor or admissions officer.

 

Experience serving families in Orange County.

 

Bilingual proficiency in Korean or Chinese.
