Brief Job Summary:

Studio Zimmermann is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Interior Design Intern for Summer 2026. This role offers a graduating student comprehensive, hands-on exposure to both the creative and operational sides of a boutique design firm. This in-person position heavily balances technical AutoCAD drafting and field support with active showroom sample management, design library organization, and daily studio coordination.
Brief Company Overview

Studio Zimmermann is a Los Angeles-based interior design firm specializing in high-end residential renovations and multifamily developments. Rooted in a philosophy of architectural minimalism, natural materials, and curated vintage sourcing, the studio creates elevated, intentional spaces tailored to contemporary living.

Daily responsibilities:

  • Showroom Logistics & Sample Management: Drive to local showrooms to pick up and return a high volume of material samples, and take full ownership of keeping the physical design library clean, organized, and up-to-date.
  • CAD Drafting & Redlines: Produce and update architectural drawing sets in AutoCAD, including floor plans, furniture layouts, electrical plans, and elevations while maintaining strict standard lineweights.
  • Field & Site Support: Attend site visits to assist with space measurements, tape out furniture layouts, apply paint samples, and provide hands-on assistance during project deliveries and installations.
  • Sourcing & Admin Tracking: Perform extensive online sourcing for furniture, fixtures, and finishes (FF&E), assist with tracking purchase orders, and maintain digital project binders.

Qualifications/competencies:

  • Studio & Environmental Fit: Must be entirely comfortable working closely in a small, 1-person home office environment, and must be highly comfortable working alongside a large dog with puppy energy.
  • Technical & Design Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (must be able to independently set up a new drawing set and pick up redlines) paired with a strong eye for minimal modern aesthetics and vintage sourcing.
  • Local Mobility: Valid U.S. driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are required for frequent driving across the city for showroom sample runs and site visits.
  • Organizational Skills: High attention to detail, strong communication skills for interacting with clients and vendors, and a proactive attitude toward maintaining order in physical and digital spaces.
  • Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Position is 100% in-office/on-site; no remote work).

Required application materials:

  • Resume
  • Cover Letter
  • Portfolio (Highlighting AutoCAD drafting samples/construction documents alongside design concepts)

Expected Hours: 15 hours per week (5 hours per day, 3 days a week | Schedule details to be finalized upon hire)
