Start Your Career at the Intersection of Healthcare and Law
Turning Point Life Care Planning (TPLCP) is a growing medical-legal consulting firm specializing in life care planning and related services. Our team works with attorneys, physicians, rehabilitation professionals, and expert consultants on complex medical-legal matters.
We are seeking a motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented Medical-Legal Assistant / Trainee to join our Century City team. This entry-level role offers hands-on exposure to the medical-legal case process—from records and assessments through expert reports, depositions, and trials—while developing skills applicable to careers in law, healthcare, case management, and professional services.
No prior medical-legal experience or paralegal certification is required. We provide training in medical-legal processes, Filevine case-management software, document management, professional communication, report production, and internal quality-control procedures.
An Opportunity to Grow
This role is designed for someone who wants more than a temporary administrative position. You will gain experience working with attorneys, healthcare providers, expert witnesses, medical records, legal deadlines, and professional case-management systems while developing increasingly sophisticated medical-legal skills. As your knowledge and capabilities develop, there is an opportunity to take on greater responsibility.
What You'll Learn & Do
As part of our team, you will learn how medical-legal cases are coordinated and supported while taking responsibility for important day-to-day case activities, including:
- Requesting, tracking, receiving, and organizing medical records and case documentation.
- Communicating with physician offices, attorneys, clients, and expert consultants regarding records, scheduling, and case-related needs.
- Coordinating client assessments, physician consultations, and other case appointments.
- Scheduling and calendaring assessments, consultations, depositions, trials, meetings, and case-related deadlines.
- Maintaining accurate case information, notes, tasks, and documentation in Filevine.
- Preparing and organizing materials for assessments, expert depositions, trials, and other proceedings.
- After training, assisting with expert report preparation, Microsoft Word formatting, quality control, final PDFs, uploads, and report delivery.
- Providing general case coordination and administrative support to the medical-legal team.
What We're Looking For:
- High School degree required. College coursework, an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or current enrollment in a relevant program is welcomed, but not required.
- Coursework or interest in legal studies, paralegal studies, healthcare, public health, business, psychology, rehabilitation, or related fields is a plus.
- Previous administrative, legal, healthcare, records-management, customer-service, or professional office experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and follow-up responsibilities.
- Professionalism, dependability, and good judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Comfort learning new technology, software, and processes.
- An interest in law, healthcare, medical-legal consulting, or professional services.
