About This Course
Born in 1809, Felix Mendelssohn was considered one of the most important composers and pianists of the nineteenth century. The grandson of an important Jewish philosopher named Moses Mendelssohn, Felix received an illustrious education from an early age and would eventually be considered one of the most talented prodigies of the Romantic period. In this course, we listen to some of Mendelssohn’s most significant compositions, including the Violin Concerto, the Overture to a Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Symphonies, the Songs without Words, Elijah, and other important compositions.
