About This Course
Much of early American history can be told through its textiles, which reflected the culture and values of the colonial era through the new Republic. By analyzing regional patterns, materials, and period construction techniques, this course examines how decorative fabrics illuminated social trends, artistic movements, and technological advancements that helped to shape American society. We look specifically at textiles used for upholstery, wall treatments, and floor coverings, providing a framework for understanding the evolution of the early American interior-built environment. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to videos for the duration of the course.
