Diagnosis and Management of the Endodontically Involved Patient I

This course is designed to provide the second-year postdoctoral endodontic trainees with full range of orthograde technical skills and knowledge in preparation for clinical patient care. The course has four components: 1) lectures; 2) seminars; 3) technical exercises; and 4) workshops. Trainees who successfully complete this course will be able to:
1.    Diagnose the tooth condition and establish treatment plans.
2.    Provide emergency care for endodontic patients. 
3.    Be able to perform satisfactory pre-treatment.
4.    Be able to perform a proper access cavity. 
5.    Be able to locate all canals in all types of teeth including severely calcified canals.
6.    Understand the concept of proper cleaning and shaping in all types of teeth using hand files as well as rotary instruments.
7.    Understand appropriate root canal obturating techniques in all types of teeth using lateral and vertical condensation techniques, or other obturation techniques, e.g. MTA obturation.
8.    Know how to utilize the endodontic microscope to perform all endodontic procedures.
9.    Know how to perform conventional and digital endodontic radiography.
