For Teacher Induction - California Clear Credential Program Participants

How to meet California CTC renewal requirements 

If you have additional renewal requirements listed on your credential, they will also be noted in your acceptance letter to the teacher induction program.

REL - Earn the English Learners Authorization (ELA1) or Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Certificate

To complete this renewal requirement, teachers have the option to test out via the CTEL Exams or complete the following courses:

 

RC – Complete the California Basic Skills Requirement

The California Basic Educational Skills Test™ was developed to meet requirements of laws relating to credentialing and employment. This test requirement does not replace any of the other requirements of subject matter knowledge, professional preparation, and practice teaching or field experience applicable to the issuance of credentials.

The CBEST™ is designed to test basic reading, mathematics, and writing skills found to be important for the job of an educator; the test is not designed to measure the ability to teach those skills.

This renewal requirement must be completed prior to program admission.

 

RSMC – Satisfy California’s Subject Matter Competence 

Individuals may verify subject-matter competence by passing all portions of the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET).

This renewal requirement must be completed prior to program admission. More information.

 

READ – Complete a course in Developing English Language Skills, including Reading

To complete this renewal requirement, candidates must complete EDUC X 315A - Principles and Methods of Teaching Elementary Reading.

 

US – U.S. Constitution

Complete this renewal requirement in person at UCLA Extension. Learn more.

 

CPR – CPR for Infant, Child, and Adult

To complete this renewal requirement, candidates must complete infant, child and adult CPR certification that meets the criteria of the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
