About This Course
This course explores the sports documentary and docu-series space through both a creative and commercial lens. Students will examine how powerful sports storytelling is developed, financed, produced, and distributed, while also understanding the real business forces that determine which projects get made and why. Designed for aspiring filmmakers, producers, executives, brand strategists, and investors, the course bridges narrative craft with market strategy. Students will learn how compelling stories are shaped by access, character, and theme, and how those stories are packaged, financed, and positioned for streamers, brands, and global audiences. Special attention is given to women’s sports, athlete-driven IP, and the evolving role of sports content as both entertainment and brand platform.
