Santa Monica, CA (On-site)
Recruitment began: Oct 01, 2026

Salary/Pay range: Unpaid internship for academic credit
Full/Part-time: Internship

Burrito Films is a bilingual (English/Spanish) commercial production company based in Downtown Los Angeles and certified as a California Small Business. We produce commercials, documentaries, branded content, and production services for leading U.S. and international clients. Because our team works seamlessly in both English and Spanish, you'll gain exposure to productions that operate across cultures and markets.

This internship is designed for someone who wants to understand how the business of commercial production actually works: not just what happens on set, but how projects are found, pitched, budgeted, sold, and brought to life.

Working directly with the founder, you'll gain firsthand experience across business development, production strategy, and live commercial projects.

What You'll Do

Industry and Market Research:

  • Research advertising agencies, brands, production companies, and emerging commercial opportunities.

  • Track productions coming to California, state and local film incentives, and public RFPs for video production.
  • Build research dossiers that help identify new business opportunities and shape outreach strategies.

Business Development:

  • Assist in preparing pitch decks, treatments, and presentation materials.

  • Learn how production budgets are developed and proposals are structured.
  • Participate in client, agency, and creative development meetings.

Production and Pre-Production:

  • Support location research, permitting, vendor coordination, equipment planning, crew lists, and scheduling.

  • Observe how commercial productions are organized from initial inquiry through final delivery.

On-Set Experience:

Whenever Burrito Films is shooting, interns may be offered paid Production Assistant (PA) opportunities as separate freelance day-rate employment. These are independent of the internship and provide valuable real-world set experience.

What You'll Learn:

  • How agencies and brands select production companies.

  • How commercial productions are budgeted and bid.
  • How production service companies win international business.
  • How locations, crews, permits, and vendors come together.
  • How a commercial moves from first client conversation to final wrap.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Curious about the business side of filmmaking and commercial production.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with research and spreadsheets.
  • A proactive communicator who enjoys solving problems.
  • Interested in both creative storytelling and production logistics.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required.

Internship Details:

  • Location: Downtown Los Angeles (in person)

  • Schedule: 14-20 hours per week (flexible to meet certificate requirements)
  • Duration: January 2027 through the end of the quarter, extension possible
  • Compensation: Unpaid, for academic credit. Burrito Films complies with UCLA Extension's internship requirements and applicable federal internship guidelines.
  • Mentorship: Work directly with founder Andrés, a working Director of Photography and member of the Spanish Society of Cinematographers (AEC).
