About This Course

F. Scott Fitzgerald, an American novelist and short story writer, is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. His work explored the themes of youth, beauty, love and disillusionment, best known for depicting the flamboyance and excess of the Jazz Age (1920— early 1930s). In this course, we read selected works from Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age fiction: The Great Gatsby (1925), This Side of Paradise (1920), and from Tales of the Jazz Age (1922), a collection of short stories that includes the “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” a story about a man who ages in reverse, from senescence to infancy.
