On-Site Project Management Training for LA Firefighters

Program Director of UCLA Extension’s Project Management program, Vivian Taslakian, recently spent four consecutive Wednesdays at Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LAFD) Drill Tower 81 in Van Nuys, delivering on-site training for LAFD chiefs, captains, firefighters, paramedics, recruiters, and civilian staff.

Vivian provided condensed training on project management concepts, processes, knowledge areas, tools, and techniques. For those interested in taking the Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam, Vivian also offered tactics and tips.

Twenty-three participants from LAFD Drill Tower 81 successfully completed four full days of training and were awarded a UCLA Extension record of participation, earning each of them 35 contact hours—or Professional Development Units (PDU's)—with the Project Management Institute (PMI)®.

Appreciation and acknowledgement go out to all those who participated in this course, and to the LAFD at large, who work so hard to protect lives and property.
