UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Certificate Planner

This post-baccalaureate program has a 50-year history of producing landscape architects. Designed for working professionals and those looking for a career change, this three-year intensive program prepares students for the exciting and wonderful world of landscape architecture. Instructors are working professionals in the fields of landscape architecture, landscape design and architecture who have extensive knowledge of current industry trends. This program meets the educational requirements in CA to sit for the LARE (Landscape Architect Registration Exam).

Curriculum: 105 units of required coursework and 6 elective units (111 total quarter units).

Completion time: 3 years

  • Federal Financial Aid (with proof of Bachelor’s Degree) 

Students beginning Summer Quarter should expect the program to last 3 years and 1 quarter.
Courses are conveniently offered weekday nights on Zoom, and/or in-person on select weekends.

Program at a Glance 

The charts below show the sequence of courses in the certificate. Students must enroll in courses in the order shown in the charts. Most courses in the certificate are hybrid in-person which is a combination of Live Online and In person class meetings. In person class meetings are approximately two per course and are schedule on weekends. 

Students can begin the curriculum sequence in Summer or Fall Quarter.
In addition to the core courses listed below, students must also take 6 elective units before beginning the Capstone Project Studio.
