Catherine Murphy

MA, director of college counseling at a northern California private college preparatory school. Active member of NACAC and WACAC; previously served a president for both orgnizations.  Katy went to three high schools and so understands the differences in setting, etc., when a student is wonderting where he/she/they might end up.  After college and graduate school, Katy took a position in admissions at her alma mater, as her field of civic planning was blocked due to passage of Proposition 13 in California.  Some 40  years later Katy is stil in the field of college admission counseling, having spent 28+ years on the college side at four different colleges in admissions, enrollment planning and financial aid, and now 13+  years in college counseling at a Jesuit boys' college preparatory high school. Volunteering to support and educate young counselors in schools and colleges is a life-long passion.  Katy has presented at and/or organized and attended more than 100 conferences for professional development in our field. When Katy, and her colleague Peggy Hock are not teaching or working on projects, they like to go wine tasting in the Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley with their friends.  Their spouses are very tolerant of this hobby !
