UCLA Bruins cheering at a sporting event

Go Bruins!

After a day of studying, you can cheer on the UCLA Bruins at one of many athletic events.

UCLA leads the U.S. in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) awards, so the UCLA motto is not surprising, “UCLA: Champions Made Here!”

UCLA Recreation

UCLA Extension International Certificate and Study Abroad Students

UCLA Recreation is committed to providing high-quality recreational experiences that benefit the campus community. Recreation offers extensive access to a broad range of recreational activities and services at various facilities across campus. Recreation offers programming that encompasses the competitive, passive, social, cultural, and instructional aspects of recreational activity.

Access to certain UCLA Recreation facilities is included in the quarterly International Program Fee for international certificate program and Study Abroad Program students* and begins at the beginning of the first quarter of the program. Please note that to access recreation facilities, students must first obtain their UCLA Bruincard. The cost of the Bruincard is included in the International Program Fee for international certificate program and Study Abroad Program students.

*Please note that this does not apply to international students participating in UCLA Extension Custom Programs.

If you are not an international certificate program or Study Abroad program student but are enrolled at UCLA Extension in another program, please visit the UCLA Student Section in Member Services for details on how to purchase Rec Membership at the UCLA student rate.

Libraries

The UCLA Library, with more than twelve million print and electronic volumes, ranks among the top three university research libraries in North America. You can read books and magazines or study there without an ID card or a library card. To take books home, you need a library card, which you can get for $28 at the front desk of the Research or College (Powell) Library.

The Westwood branch of the Los Angeles Public Library provides free access to computer workstations with reservations; you can get a free library card with two forms of identification or a California driver's license.

Religious Services/Houses of Worship

The Los Angeles community is diverse, with places of worship for persons of nearly all faiths. UCLA student groups also represent many of the major faiths. The University Religious Conference at UCLA can help you contact religious groups on campus.
