Elisa Cabal

Elisa Cabal is a gifted communicator who brings over twenty five years’ experience as a Federally Certified Court Interpreter to the Certificate Program in Translation and Interpretation at UCLA Extension. She received the Distinguished Instructor Award from UCLA Extension in 2013 for excellence in teaching.

Born in the U.S. and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, she obtained her Federal Certification while living and working in Miami, Florida.  Since 1989 she has called Southern California home.  She is active in the profession through her ongoing work in the Federal and California State Courts as well as with clients in the private sector.

Elisa’s professional experience also includes extensive travel throughout Latin America as a simultaneous interpreter at international conferences, training events, and presentations.

Her focus in the classroom is on training future colleagues in the profession and providing them with the resources needed to succeed and take pride in their work.  She enjoys creating a challenging and supportive environment in which to bring out the confidence, agility and clear thinking that are required for highly-skilled language professionals.
