Instructor Biography:

M.F.A., writer, teacher, and book critic. Ms. Partington’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Alta Journal. She is a board member for the National Book Critics Circle, and VP in charge of Emerging Critics.

Instructor Statement:

Everyone’s a critic. Really! But how do you shape your opinions into a book review? What gives each of us the authority to critique a book, or to express our opinions in a format that we can publish? I strive to support critics of all skill and confidence levels and demystify the world of writing reviews. Critical writing is creative writing! I’ll guide you through everything from writing the review, to pitching, to managing your schedule as a freelancer. We’ll look to diverse examples of professional criticism and engage in activities designed to awaken your inner critic. Let’s talk! I can’t wait to read your work.
