Lijuan Ma

Lijuan (Tracy) Ma is a native of Beijing and an alumna of the prestigious University of Science & Technology Beijing. She interprets in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, and her work has included a sizeable number of notable clients, ranging from the Parsons School of Design, for whom she worked in Paris, to the chief executive officer of Coca-Cola Co. during his visit to Beijing in 2002, to a U.S. movie shoot in northern China.

She has lived and worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York, among other places. Nowadays, she can often be found in Downtown Los Angeles at the courts, where she is a certified interpreter, or at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, where she is accredited as a medical interpreter.

Tracy brings a deep understanding of interpretation and translation pedagogy to her work as an instructor at UCLA Extension -- in fact, she herself is a graduate of the program, and her great experience with it was what drove her to want to work here as an instructor.

Bridging the gap between two languages isn't just a profession for Tracy. At home, Tracy and her husband are trying to raise their son and daughter bilingually, though she admits, they can sometimes be very tough students to teach.
