Salim Elachkar

Engineer, MS in Civil Engineering, CMIT, CASQA, MSHA

Sam Elachkar began teaching at UCLA Extension in Winter 2017 as a Construction Management Instructor. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Construction Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and a Masters of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Construction Management from Cal State Fullerton. Since education and experience are important in the construction industry as well as professional organizations, being on the board of AACE International - Southern California chapter Sam hopes to inform students of other avenues to advance their careers.

Sam has ten years of experience within the construction and project management field. His years of experience ranges from Oil & Gas Corporations and Public Utilities Agencies to Large Infrastructure Programs throughout California. Holding various positions in multiple organizations, he has gained practical experience constructing advanced project management software, understanding information flow, creating in-depth analytical reports as well as auditing business procedures/processes on construction sites.

As a instructor, Sam will focus on providing real world case studies and guiding them using project management frame work. He holds his students to the same standards they hold for him, namely, to come prepared to engage each other in discussion/group projects and to be ready to learn whether its from the instructor or fellow classmate. Sam encourages ongoing feedback and open discussion.
