Sally Lozada

It’s great to meet you! I’m Sally Lozada and bring with me over 25 years of professional and academic experience. Beginning at Ohio University, I worked as an academic advisor for undecided students, taught the Freshman Experience Course UC 115 and was approved to advise a specialized group of students who were readmitted to the university on academic probation with the stipulation that they meet with their advisor to work on a variety of success initiatives. Following time in the Peace Corps teaching English, I began my higher ed career as an Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs. My administrative work at a public two-year college focused on quality orientation to ensure students got off to a strong start on their educational journey. Continuing in the two-year college setting, I have served as an Associate Provost and as the Dean of Student Affairs. In terms of areas of important contributions, one I value most has been my work with Outcomes Based Education (OBE). I’ve thoroughly enjoyed leading and co-facilitating OBE workshops that are designed to evaluate and reorganize curricula based on time spent with employers of graduates who ultimately answer the question, “What do our graduates need out there that we are responsible for in here?” I have twice served as a Criterion Chair for Higher Learning Commission reaccreditation. For the next three years I worked as a Team Lead for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I am currently trying out a new profession - still in education - but serving as a high school guidance counselor. This is work that allows me to explore and develop new skill sets and use my knowledge of higher education to get high school students prepared for college. Throughout all of my 'full-time' education administrative functions, I have served as an adjunct faculty member teaching a variety of Higher Education, Communications, English, student success courses, and as a dissertation chair or committee member. I earned my Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Capella University; Master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Ohio University, and; BS in Education/English from Ohio University, Athens.
