About this course:Learn the fundamentals of conducting taught by a professional film and concert conductor. You will practice all aspects of baton technique, including beat patterns, irregular meters, and contrasting articulations/gestures. You will work on cueing, conducting to picture, conducting to a click track, and podium presence. You will conduct live professional musicians as well as conduct to recordings. Attendance is strongly encouraged for the first class meeting, during which important foundations are established. Conducting begins at the second meeting and attendance is mandatory.
It is advisable that you complete the following (or equivalent) since they are prerequisites for Fundamentals of Conducting: From the Symphony to the Scoring Stage.
