In a global business environment of volatile markets and eroded investor confidence, effective corporate governance and ethical conduct for ensuring reliable financial information is key. Our Internal Audit Certificate utilizes case-based, hands-on learning methods to develop the knowledge necessary to build a career as an internal auditor. We also offer a variety of electives focusing on skills transferable to industries including higher education, entertainment, aerospace, non-profits and more.

Our curriculum aligns with current Certified Internal Auditor (CIA®) certification requirements, encompassing both U.S. and international standards. Coursework is also relevant to CFE, CISA, CGAP® and CFSA® credentials, as well as the Information Systems and Controls CPA Career Exam.

Prerequisites

Students are advised to complete the Intermediate Accounting Theory and Practice sequence (or equivalent), since the subject matter is a prerequisite for numerous courses in the curriculum. Students with equivalent experience or training may consult with the certificate advisor to waive the suggested prerequisites.

An internship in accounting/internal audit can provide you with practical experience in a variety of accounting job functions. Certificate students must complete a minimum of 5 courses before enrolling in the internship.

The Vets Count Scholarship was created for active duty U.S. military personnel and U.S. veterans, and their immediate families (spouses or children) who are interested in pursuing financial programs to assist them in achieving their educational and career goals.

The scholarship will pay the registration fees for any two courses in the Financial Management Programs area (see application for more details).
