Build Your Real Estate Career

Jump-start your real estate career at UCLA Extension. Our certificate program’s comprehensive curriculum goes beyond that of other exam prep courses, giving you the skills to succeed in the industry. Taught by industry professionals who bring years of experience and insights to the classroom, this certificate lays a solid foundation for you to work in single-family residence (SFR) and commercial real estate (CRE) sales. 

This program meets the educational requirements to sit for the CA real estate salesperson license examination*. It also serves as the foundation for building your own customizable training. Add courses to meet educational requirements for the Real Estate Brokerage License or stack it with an advanced certificate in Real Estate Investment and Finance or Commercial Real Estate.

Format: Online or in-person. Can be completed 100% online.

Duration: 6 months (full-time), 1 year (part-time) 

*UCLA Extension is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Courses in this certificate equal four or five quarter units (excluding Business Ethics). Students who complete the certificate meet the college-level coursework required by the State of California Department of Real Estate to sit for the salesperson license exam.

We recommend starting with Real Estate Principles. Students must take all courses for a letter grade and pass with a program GPA of 2.50 or better.

An internship in real estate can provide you with practical experience in a variety of real estate job functions. Certificate students must complete a substantial portion (generally 20 units) of the program curriculum, with a GPA of 3.0 or better, before enrolling in the internship.
