An introduction to structural analysis with a focus on the classification of structural elements and analysis of statically determinate trusses, beams, and frames.
Understand basic structural loads and the equilibrium of forces and moments
Determine the reactions of determinate structures
Solve for the internal member forces in determinate trusses
Draw shear and moment diagrams for beams and frames
About this course:
In this course, students gain an understanding of the fundamental structural concepts that individuals working in construction management need to have. This course provides an introduction to structural analysis and focuses on the classification of structural elements; analysis of statically determinate trusses, beams, and frames; deflections in elementary structures; and load calculations.
Prerequisites
Basic understanding of high school level algebra and geometry.
