Ashok Sadhwani

Ashok Sadhwani is an international trade and customs specialist with more than 30 years’ experience in the import/export industry in over 40 countries.  He has served as an Import and Export Manager in the Middle East and Asia, served as a senior-level Business Development Manager and Logistics Specialist for import and export companies, and provided consultation services and training seminars to private sector companies and foreign government ministries worldwide. Ashok’s expertise includes international import export documentation and regulatory compliance, international trade software development and implementation, transportation logistics, U.S. import export laws (Customs Law, Export Administration Regulations-EAR, International Traffic in Arms Regulations-ITAR), trade finance, banking, marine insurance, accounting, Letters of Credit, and experience in economic development work in countries emerging from long term conflict and within politically charged environments.

 

Ashok is also a visiting lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, where he teaches International Trade.

 

His industry expertise includes a variety of sectors ranging from telecommunication products, to household and commercial soft goods, to gems and jewelry.  In his current role as Principal Consultant – International Trade Compliance and Operations for Asmara U.S.A. Inc., Ashok provides training, education, and consultation on topics such as export management systems; trade operations policy and logistical procedures; and customs law, modernization and capacity building in countries around the world.  In this capacity, he has provided technical training and workshops in Fiji, Thailand, Bhutan, Southern Sudan, Morocco, Bahrain and Oman for local firms to market and export products to the United States.  Mr. Sadhwani holds a Master’s Degree in International Customs Law and Administration from the University of Canberra and received a Graduate Diploma in International Marketing from the Singapore Institute of Management. He is an active member of the Southern California Regional District Export Council assisting U.S. exporters, a licensed U.S. customs broker and lives and breathes international trade.
