Instructor Statement:

Writing is an intensely personal experience. It can require you to dig deep into your well of memories and imagination while you experiment with language in new and novel ways. The excitement of a writing class is one in which a collection of writers comes together to share their perspectives, learn from one another, and walk away with words on the page. As your teacher, it is my goal to help you find your voice, instruct about craft, delve into the process of creating character, story, plot, pacing, setting, and put it all together into a compelling narrative. It is a long journey to create stories of fiction and nonfiction, and my role is to help guide you in the process. I aim to create a comfortable and safe environment which leads to lively discussions through craft lectures, workshop facilitation, and individual meetings. We will begin this exciting process of writing a book together, and you will leave the class with a draft of a story, the tools necessary to complete it, and the confidence and community to bolster your journey along the way.
