Instructor Statement:
I encourage students to discover themselves through writing: to go towards those places, memories, characters, voices that manage to take hold of us, and to attempt to understand why we can't forget them, try as we may. My classroom is a democratic community space where together, we create the space for students to take risks with their work, to try on different approaches toward generating words on the page, and to learn to discern their own strengths and weaknesses through honest, rigorous dialogue about the craft of writing.
