This course is designed to understand the legal and ethical implications related to counseling while students also clarify their own beliefs and values.
Interpret the applicable federal, state, and agency laws and regulations that apply to addiction counseling
Define and identify the scope of practice for addiction professionals and recognize when referral, supervision, or consultation is required
Characterize the consequences of violating the code of ethics and the ramifications of non-compliance with confidentiality regulations
About this course:
This course is designed to help students clarify their own beliefs and values, review the dynamics of the profession's Code of Ethics, gain knowledge about legal implications, and explore ethical issues related to substance use disorder counseling. In addition, students learn about the scope of practice for certified addiction counselors.
