The 1,000 years between the fall of the Roman Empire and the Renaissance has long been referred to as the Dark Ages. It was, in fact, a time of great migration, exploration, development of ideas, and invention. In this course, we discuss this period in Europe from 476 AD to the 14th century— how it was heavily dominated by the emerging Christian church, resulting in beautifully crafted jeweled decorative, intricately designed hand-crafted books, as well as the architectural achievement of the Gothic Cathedral. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to the video for 30 days.
