Steven started his career when he took a Radio & TV class, that was taught at his high school. After 20 years of wearing many hats in production and post-production, Steven chose editing as his career.

In 1996, Abraham Quintanilla (Q Productions, Inc.) contacted Steven to produce Latin music videos by such artists as Selena, Pete Astudillo, and Jennifer Pena. This lead to his involvement on the Warner Bros. Film, "Selena".

In 2000, Steven moved to Los Angeles to become a freelancer, where he has successfully been producing and editing various television, feature film, and documentary projects. He has brought his leadership and vision to a variety of feature film projects, beginning with the independent micro-budget horror film, Terror Toons in 2001. A steady stream of independent projects followed as well as working on network and cable television shows in every genre. Steven also holds a Guinness World Record for the independent feature film, The Summer of Massacre.

In 2007, Steven won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming for his team work on The Amazing Race, which aired on CBS. He has also worked on over 300 episodes of non-fiction, documentary, game shows and specials.

Steven also holds Master of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University and a Master of Studies in Law and Certification in Entertainment Law from University of Southern California.

Steven often travels back to his hometown to speak to students. His advice to them is to “take the opportunity to reach out to professionals that do what you want to pursue in life.” He believes the best way to give back in your profession is to teach others what you know so that those students can have the knowledge as they enter their chosen career.
