About this course:

This course covers the biological properties of bacterial and animal viruses, replication, methods of detection, interactions with host cells, and multicellular hosts. Topics provide a general overview of the viral world and its diversity. The main focus will be on comparing the different viral taxa, especially their replication mechanisms; interactions with host cell/organisms; and their role as etiological agents of epidemic diseases, cancer and heart conditions. Their use as molecular tools will also be discussed. Transferable for UC credit.

Life Sciences 7A, 7B and 23L.
