  • Discern the presence and effect of course topics and materials in your own everyday lives

About this course:

Same as Sociology XL M176. This course will be a critical exploration-on both the personal and the objective level-of the phenomenon conventionally labeled mass communication. Through investigating such topics as media and the social world, production and the media industry, how media represents the social world, the meaning and influence of audiences, and what the future holds for media, we will examine the pervasive effects the media has on our social life. Transferable for UC credit.
