Michael Washco

Michael S. Washco obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Sociology, 2001) and Master of Science (Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology, 2004) from the State University of New York, University at Albany. Instructor Washco has been teaching in higher education since 2009 in a variety of undergraduate and graduate disciplines (psychology, sociology, and addiction). In addition to UCLA Extension, Instructor Wascho has developed and facilitated course curriculum at SUNY Schenectady, Maria College, Hudson Valley Community College, Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, SUNY Cobleskill, The College of Saint Rose, SUNY Oneonta, Monroe Community College, and Southern New Hampshire University.

In addition to Instructor Washco’s academic career, Instructor Washco is a practicing New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). Instructor Wascho has worked within the field of mental health and addiction in a variety of settings such as college counseling centers, emergency departments, and not-for-profit organizations since 2004. Most recently, Instructor Wascho was the Director of Counseling Services at Maria College, and provided mental health counseling services at Fulton Montgomery Community College.
